Salim S. Abdool Karim is a South African clinical infectious diseases epidemiologist, widely recognised for his research on HIV prevention and treatment. He is Director of the Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA), CAPRISA Professor of Global Health at Columbia University in New York and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research), University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is Chair of the UNAIDS Scientific Expert Panel and WHO’s HIV Strategic and Technical Advisory Committee.
